Your Project
Why Renovate?
Everyone has different reasons for wanting to renovate, perhaps you need to;
Address a Lifestyle Need — You’re in the right neighbourhood, but the house just isn’t working for you or your family’s lifestyle. Reuse of existing space or adding an addition can convert your ineffective living space into your dream home, without loosing what you love about your neighbourhood.
Upgrade or Improve Outdated Items — A new hot water tank or furnace, perhaps upgrading your windows or doors can increase your comfort and reduce your heating / cooling bills. Your carpet has been a trooper and served its duty but is now a health hazard. Oh, how about that kitchen – how is it working for you these days?
Address an Urgent Need – A leaking roof or recover damage from a flood or fire which can’t be put off.
Reconstruct your deck for fear that the weight of the lawn chairs alone might collapse it.
Regardless of your reasons, many projects will make your home more attractive, safer, easier to maintain, less costly to operate and will increase the value of your home.
Why Renovate Now?
Due to the change in the economy, demand on new home construction has dropped, decreasing demand and bringing pricing back to relatively normal levels. Tying into this is the lowered lending interest rates.
Having your home “pay” for its improvements though a home equity loan is a sound investment. Using the equity you’ve built up in your home can be reinvested to not only improve the look and functionality of your home, but also to increase its value both in the current and future markets.
Improve the efficiency of your home. The lowered cost of construction has not affected how expensive it is to run your home; heating and power costs will not decrease based on the current economy. Improving your windows, insulation and upgrading your heating systems can save you money for years to come.
Put money back in your pocket. With the 2009 Home Renovation Tax Credit, the ecoENERGY Retrofit Homes Grants and the Navona Green Challenge, you can save thousands of dollars towards your renovation. This is a great time to invest in your biggest asset: your home. Not only will this provide enjoyment for you and your family, but it will also pay off when you decide to sell.
